Twelve-year-old Nur* has been deaf since birth. After his village was attacked in Myanmar he became separated from his parents, causing him great distress. He’s now living with extended family in one of the refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar. Nur receives support from a Save the Children caseworker. There are an estimated 6,000 unaccompanied Rohingya refugee children in the camps. These children are especially vulnerable to exploitation, abuse and even child trafficking. Many of them have witnessed unspeakable violence so Save the Children offers emotional support to help them cope with their traumatic experiences.
